Fall is now well underway! There’s a crisp chill in the air and everyone is bundled up in cozy sweaters and scarves. Leaves are crunching underfoot, the smell of pumpkins and the warmth of hot chocolate lingers in the air. And usually what comes with the fall season is Thanksgiving. With a multitude of food of turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and more. It’s a great time for families to get together. But it can also be a stressful time if you are the one that ends up hosting it. That means food to cook and a house to clean! Often times it can easy to feel as if you are being stretched to your limits with the pressure of baking and keeping the house clean.

Well, we can ease the burden a little bit on half of the equation. The cleaning part that is. Here are five steps for stress-free cleaning this Thanksgiving!

Dust What is Going to Be Seen

You may start worrying about cleaning absolutely everything in your home, but there is no need. Likely, your guests will only see the main floor of your home, so just dust the areas that they will be sitting in, and don’t worry about dusting high to reach places, chances are…if they are high to reach, your guest won’t see them.

Clean the Bathroom

This may seem like a daunting task, but again, you only have to clean the bathroom that your guests will have easy access to. Just wipe down all the surfaces, spray some disinfectant spray and you’re good to go. Also, make sure that there are extra rolls of toilet paper on hand to save you or your guests from any embarrassing emergencies.

Vacuum and Sweep the floor

In the hour before your guests arrive, do a quick vacuum of all hardwood floors and carpets on your main floor. This will give your home an instant boost! Make sure to focus on vacuuming around the kitchen area to pick up any stray crumbs left behind during the cooking process.

Load the Dishwasher

One of the most daunting tasks that come with Thanksgiving (and any other big gathering at your house) is the clean up after the meal. You don’t want to be stuck with any overflowing sinks and piles of dirty dishes on the counter. Our advice to you is to make sure that your sink AND your dishwasher are empty before the guests arrive. That way all you have to do when the dinner is over is to just load up the dishwasher and start it up.

Wipe Down the Counter

This is the last thing to do before your guests arrive! Just grab a damp microfiber cloth and give all of your countertops a quick wipe down of any stray remnant crumbs left behind from cooking. This will give your countertops a gleaming and sparkling look which will impress your guests when they see the Thanksgiving spread that you made.

Follow these five simple tips and you are guaranteed to have a stress free and clean Thanksgiving! Don’t forget to enjoy the delicious food that you made with your friends and family.
